Our Testing Methodology

We believe a testing platform should be honest about what it is and isn't. This page explains, in plain terms, how our questions are written, weighted, and scored.

How questions are written

Every question on Aptenna is written from scratch by our editorial team. We do not copy, adapt, or reference questions, graphics, or proprietary material from other testing organizations or publishers. Each question is tagged with a category (for example, logical reasoning or spatial reasoning), a difficulty level, and a scoring weight.

How scoring works

Each question contributes a weighted point value toward its category and toward your overall result. After you finish a test, we calculate the percentage of available points earned overall and within each category, then translate the overall percentage into an illustrative index using a simple, disclosed formula centered around a score of 100. We also show an estimated percentile using a standard statistical curve, purely for illustrative comparison.

What this scoring is not

Our tests are not administered under standardized clinical conditions, are not normed against a professionally validated reference population, and have not undergone formal psychometric validation studies. That means the specific numbers you see — including the "cognitive index" and percentile on the IQ Test — should be read as an engaging estimate, not a scientifically precise measurement. We will update this page if that ever changes.

Continuous improvement

We periodically review question performance and clarity, retire or revise questions that are ambiguous, and expand our library with new tests and categories. Feedback is welcome via our contact page.
